The race we know as the vampire has evolved. They are now
able to stand in the sun, though it harms them and depletes
their energy and they must often hide beneath a cloak. They
have gathered enough strength over centuries to possess mind
powers that the humans couldn’t possibly comprehend, and their
strength is unmatched. Unfortunately, their thirsts have risen
and they must feed often to survive.
The other common immortals—the werewolves—are no longer
focusing their furies at the vampires. They are instead seeking
solitude, and appear as wolves to the humans. They are also the
only immortal race that has come to mate with their own kind.
The other races can bear children with humans alone.
Among the least known of the immortal breeds are the wraiths
and angels. Angels are spirits that have lived for centuries,
jumping from one soul-less mortal body to the next and living out
a new life each time. Do not presume that their name makes
them merciful. They have exquisite powers and a will of their own.
The wraiths, much like the angels, have also lived since nearly
the dawn of time. The difference is that they are not reborn in
new bodies, but live as ghosts for all eternity. The strongest are
able to share bodies with the living but can never have one of
their own. However, they usually have more power than angels.
